PROFILE OF EDOGAWA CITY

  Edogawa City is situated at the eastern edge of Tokyo. It is a waterfront town surrounded by the Arakawa and Nakagawa rivers to the west, the Edogawa and Kyu-Edogawa rivers to the east and Tokyo Bay to the south. Seven rivers run through the city, with a combined total length of 45 kilometers. Edogawa City has an area of land of approximately 49 square kilometers and boasts a population of about 660,000, and a population growing by roughly 6,000 people each year. The city is striving to be everyone’s preferred “hometown where everyone can feel the joy of life,” with prosperous industry and a rich variety of cultural activities in the community.

City Crest (established in 1965)

Symbol

The crest was designed using “” (pronounced “e”), the first Japanese letter in Japanese for Edogawa and representing a soaring dove. It symbolizes eternal development and peace. The crest’s round shape symbolizes the cooperation and goodwill of the residents of the city.
